South Park sits on either side of Massachusetts in downtown Lawrence, with the street splitting the park in two. It is a great place to take a casual stroll, let the kids romp around in the playground, or just sit and enjoy the fresh air. Located about a mile east of North 2nd street, on the north shore of the Kansas River, the biking/hiking/walking trails cover a distance of about nine miles. Mostly packed dirt provides easy riding even for beginners. The trails curve in and out of the woods, providing excellent scenery.
